Brookfield Communications Committee to Discuss Creation of Community Resource Page

By Chjristopher Kelleher

The Brookfield Communications Committee is scheduled to meet on May 11 at 7:15 p.m. at the Brookfield Police Department, where members are expected to discuss the creation of a community resource page for the town website.

The proposed page would serve as a centralized location for local assistance information and community support resources previously available through the Brookfield Board of Health website.

This reporter, Christopher Kelleher, requested that the Communications Committee place the matter back on the agenda and consider creating a town-managed resource page that residents could easily access.

Among the suggested resources are local food pantry information and hours, local self-help and recovery group information, 988 crisis and suicide prevention resources, child abuse reporting information, and other local assistance programs that may benefit Brookfield residents.

In a conversation with the Brookfield Examiner, Communications Committee member Steven Karrmann stated that once the resource page is managed under the Communications Committee as part of the town website, the information would not fall under the control of any single board or department.

Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting or contact the Communications Committee communications@brookfieldma.us. with suggestions for resources they would like to see included on the page.

The meeting will take place Monday, May 11, at 7:15 p.m. at the Brookfield Police Department.
