**Brookfield Select Board to Hold Public Hearing on New Telephone Pole Installation**
BROOKFIELD – Residents and stakeholders of Brookfield are informed of an upcoming Public Hearing initiated by the Brookfield Board of Selectmen, slated for Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 6:20 PM. The focal point of this hearing is a petition from NATIONAL GRID, which seeks approval for the placement of telephone poles, wires, and associated fixtures in specific areas of the town. The venue for this hearing is the Banquet Room at the Town Hall, 6 Central Street, Brookfield, MA 01506.
Delving into the details, NATIONAL GRID’s proposal encompasses the positioning of a single SO Pole on Rice Corner Rd. The proposed pole will be set up approximately 1,240 feet south of where Longhorn Trail intersects with Rice Corner Rd and will extend roughly 20 feet towards the west. This initiative is primarily to facilitate the construction of a new home in the vicinity. The pole, designated as a 40 ft Class 2 pole #81-84, will come equipped with an anchor placed oppositely to the current pole, #81-50, to bolster the service pole line directing towards the new property’s driveway.
For those keen on visual representations, a detailed plan elucidating the pole’s location is available, bearing the title “Rice Corner Rd – Brookfield — Massachusetts” and dated September 7, 2023, with the reference number No.# 30535429.
Additionally, the petition includes a request for the integration of underground cables and wires. These will be positioned either on Rice Corner Rd or other intersecting routes. Their primary function will be to form connections between the new poles and the requisite buildings. Furthermore, NATIONAL GRID has committed to allocating space on the proposed pole for a cross-arm, destined to support municipal utilities such as those for fire, police, telephony, and telegraphy.
The Brookfield Board of Selectmen earnestly encourages local residents and other concerned parties to engage in this discussion. Feedback, either in written form or verbal delivery, is welcomed before or during the actual Public Hearing on October 19.
This hearing is an opportunity for the Brookfield community to participate in and influence decisions around infrastructure and utility developments within their locale. Everyone is urged to stay informed and contribute to the dialogue.
